Bring Your Ride Inside| How to Practice Social Distancing & Keep Riding Your Bike
As cyclists in the middle of March, one of the things we are definitely looking forward to is warmer weather, longer days full of daylight and spending time on the saddle with our friends and families. While riding outside has not explicitly been cancelled, we know that it is a risk some are not willing to take right now. Who can blame you?! At this time, our government and the CDC are telling us the best thing we can do to protect ourselves from the Novel Coronavirus is to by practicing social distancing, washing our hands and avoiding close contact with others. We want to offer some tips on how you can ride your bike while practicing social distancing.
Your Bike + Smart Trainer + Zwift = Socially Distanced Riding
One of the amazing things about owning a bicycle is that you have the flexibility of riding your bike outside or bringing your bike inside, setting up your trainer and riding in the house as well. This is one of the many differences of an actual bicycle and the Peloton. For a side by side comparison, please see this video made by a fellow Trek Dealer in Florida. He does a fantastic job explaining the benefits of a bicycle trainer over the Peloton and breaks down the cost analysis as well.
Smart trainers paired with an app called Zwift make it possible to have a 100% interactive ride all from the comfort of your home. Need to go uphill? You are going to have to downshift on your bicycle. Don’t’ know how fast you are riding? Zwift will tell you. Want a ride with a workout planned for you? Zwift has those. Want to ride with your friends? Zwift can make that happen too. Zwift is compatible with just about any screen and you can upload all your rides to your Strava account. Because if Strava didn’t log it, it never happened!
We are partnered with Saris, a USA brand that has been making trainers for a very long time. They have several trainer options and we try to keep a solid stock of these trainers at each of both of our locations. Our entire staff is trained on how to help you pick out the right bike, trainer and set up for your cycling needs. Please do not hesitate to call or stop by if you need help with your trainer set up.
For the time being, we will be offering curb-side service and pick up and delivery. For the most current information, please visit https://pages.e2ma.net/pages/1409442/21360
